Singha 7s – Falcons make it two from two
Newcastle Falcons 7s made it two from two in an entertaining Singha Premiership Rugby 7s match against Sales Sharks, setting up a winner takes the title clash against Worcester later this afternoon.
They had to fight back twice against a spirited Sharks side who asked plenty of questions but ultimately took a comfortable win.
The Sharks opened the scoring following a prolonged period of possession before a quick fire response from Gavin Lowe and conversion from Scott Wight give the Falcons the lead.
The Sharks took a five point advantage into the half time breather after a converted try in the last play of the first half.
With their proud winning streak under attack, the Falcons came out firing after the break, with two quick fire tries from Gavin Lowe and James Fleming taking them to a seven point lead.
James Johnstone crossed to further extend the lead, but the Sharks weren’t lying down and only a last ditch tackle from Mark Robertson prevented Sale from taking back some of the advantage.
They were ultimately unable to add to their 12 points and the final word of the game went to home side, with a converted try from Jamie Farndale.
