Newcastle Falcons 7s made an emphatick start to the 2015 Singha Premiership Rugby 7s round at Kingston Park, blitzing Leicester Tigers.

Taking to the field for the first game of the afternoon, the Falcons were straight out of the blocks, grabbing their first try through James Johnstone after the Tigers were penalised 5m out from their line.

Converted by Scott Wight, the lead was short lived with Leicester level just over a minute later through Ryan Olowofela and a George Worth conversion.

Taking control of the rest of the half, Mark Robertson helped himself to a brace of tries with one successfully converted for a 19-7 half time lead.

The Second half was mainly one way traffic as the experienced 7s specialists in the team combined with the home grown starlets combining well to score four tries without reply.

Callum Chick, Ruaridh Dawson, Jamie Farndale and Gavin Lowe were the men to cross before Tigers grabbed one back on the cusp of the final whistle.

There was still time for a final try for the Falcons through Farndale to take a handsome win and open the afternoon in style.
