Newcastle Falcons’ Oli Spencer played the full 80 minutes for England Under-20s on Thursday as they surged past Fiji.

The encounter at Cape Town’s Athlone Stadium saw England winning 48-11 in their second game of the World Rugby U20 Championship, having defeated Argentina 41-20 in the opening round.

Spencer started at inside centre for an England team who raced into a 36-6 half-time lead, chalking up the four-try bonus point after just 26 minutes.

Fiji offered sterner resistance after the break, but were nonetheless well beaten in a game played out in windy conditions in the Western Cape winter.

England’s third and final group game is on Tuesday July 9 when they face host nation South Africa (6pm UK time), with the knockout matches on Sunday July 14 before the finals on Friday July 19.
