Scotland have split their national under-16s players into two squads, Blues and Reds, with the Scottish Exiles tackling the Blues at 12.30pm before the Falcons Under-16s meet the Reds at 2.30pm.

Entry to both games is free of charge via the Tap & Tackle bar, which is situated in the East Stand at Kingston Park Stadium.

The day is part of Scotland’s national pathway selection process and is the first outing for the Falcons’ Under-16s this season ahead of two regional festivals and the National Academy Wellington Festival, which is held over Easter.

The most talented players from the north of the UK will be on show, with Falcons academy manager Mark Laycock saying: “It is a privilege for us to host the Scotland Under-16s squads at Kingston Park this weekend.

“In recent years we have played against Scotland Under-16s at Murrayfield and it has always been a very worthwhile exercise for our players and coaches. There will be some fantastic rugby played on the day across both games, and we would urge all rugby fans to come along and see what the best young players across the north of England and the whole of Scotland can produce.

“We have played two of our Under-18s league games this year here on the 3G pitch at Kingston Park as double headers with first team games, the North of England utilised the stadium for their training weekend in January and England Under-20s have been training here all week in preparation for their Six Nations game v Italy on Friday night.

“With the new changing rooms and bar upgrades here at the club it has opened up a whole new stream of opportunities for fixtures and events that not many other clubs in the country can offer.”
