The stat cave: Defence special
A campaign built on collective graft was borne out by the numbers, with Sean Robinson making his presence felt in hitting 160 rucks – a squad high.
Will Welch followed closely with 158 rucks hit during his 14 games, Trevor Davison (154), Greg Peterson (151) and Tom Arscott (125) completing the top five.
Robinson was also prominent in the tackles made category, sitting in second on 107 behind flanker Gary Graham, whose total of 118 led the way. Will Welch was characteristically high in the pecking order in third place on 103, with Callum Chick and Toby Flood in behind.
Defensive turnovers won was another chart which saw Robinson’s quality to the fore, the big lock contributing 18 over the season, seven ahead of his nearest challenger, Callum Chick, with John Hardie, Gary Graham and Greg Peterson all showing up strongly.
Double defensive efforts saw the engine of Callum Chick put to good use, with eight over the season – Gary Graham, Will Welch, Gareth Owen and George McGuigan all showing commitment to the defensive cause by making the top five.
