VIDEO: Welch makes landmark start in Euro win
Newcastle Falcons skipper Will Welch is hoping to reach many more career milestones with the club after making his 150th start in Sunday’s 50-7 European Rugby Challenge Cup win over Grenoble.
Welch, who made his debut back in October 2008 in the Anglo-Welsh Cup, has become a mainstay of the Falcons forward pack since signing professional terms in 2009.
Opening the scoring in the third minute, it was another typically committed performance from the man who is now into his fifth season as captain, that allowed him to bring up his landmark start in style.
Speaking post match about his latest milestone, Welch said; “It’s my home club and I love it here and being around the boys. I’ve enjoyed every minute. There have been some tough times, but some good times. You have to take it all in your stride and hopefully we will get some more success in the future.”
