Falcons legend Micky Ward will be the next induction into Newcastle Falcons’ 100 Club this Sunday, as the club stalwart’s 18 years at the club and 292 appearances are recognised.

Ward, who is now part of the coaching staff, first joined the club as part of the academy set up and over the course of his career became almost the personification of the club.

Respected throughout the game, Ward’s local hero status was enhanced by his legendary circuits of the club’s bars and concourses, engaging with fans after every home game.

Speaking to this weekend’s edition of the club’s official match day programme as part of his induction, Ward said; “After a game I would go downstairs. It would take me an hour and a half to get upstairs because my first part of call was to see the supporters. I reckon I could go across now and tell you who stands where in the bar!”

Over the rest of the interview, Ward reflects on his first contract, the importance of his family and his ties to the area and his new role at Kingston Park. Get your copy for the full article.
