Welsh looking forward to Falcons future
Falcons prop Jon Welsh says it was an easy decision to make after it was announced the Scottish international sign has signed a new contract to remain at the Kingston Park club beyond the end of this season.
Welsh has become a key figure in the Falcons front row since moving from Glasgow Warriors in the summer of 2015, with 29 appearances across all competitions to date, and is looking forward to his future in the club’s colours.
Speaking to Falcons TV he said: “The decision was easy, it’s a club that is growing and is progressing and is in one of the best, if not the best league in the world and to be a part of that is just something I couldn’t pass up on.”
Reflecting on his time at Kingston Park and highlights as a Falcon so far, the 30-year-old added: “It’s been good to be in a different environment.
“On the pitch it’s just a love winning, though the away games when you win them there is something just a bit extra about them that’s good because you know the odds are stacked against you, but every time you run out to play rugby is a highlight, it’s an opportunity not everyone gets so I just think I’m really lucky to get to do that.”
