What’s On: Newcastle Falcons v Sale Sharks

The Falcons welcome Sale Sharks to Kingston Park on Sunday April 28 (3pm KO) for a true northern rugby showcase and here’s everything you need to know.

A bumper crowd is expected at the Gallagher game-day fixture with the Newcastle Rugby Foundation also holding their annual Defender Cup grassroots festival.

Join us and show your appreciation for clubs from across the region and you’ll even be able to grab a selfie with the Gallagher Premiership trophy.

TICKETS

Our ticket office and club shop are located behind our East Stand and will be open from 9am.

With the Newcastle Rugby Foundation hosting a community festival on the day, we will also have a help desk open from 9am and located in the stadium’s fanzone. This is situated in the north west corner of Kingston Park.

Tickets are still available to purchase for the fixture and you can secure your place from as little as £15 for adults and £7 for U18s.

Group ticket pricing is also still available for the discounted rate of just £13 for adults and £6 for U18s, when booking groups of 10 or more. On top of that, the organiser will also receive their entrey free of charge.

GETTING TO THE GAME

RETAIL & TICKET OFFICE

The club shop and ticket office based in the East Stand of Kingston Park will be open from 9am until 30 minutes after the full-time whistle.

Newcastle Falcons’ new home, away and third kits will be available to purchase as well as the latest range of teamwear. They are currently on sale so be sure to grab yourself a bargain!

Stay tuned for a special ‘flash’ sale that will appear on the big screen straight after full-time. Flash the Falcon will share an exclusive match-day offer just for YOU, that can only be claimed on the day.

HOSPITALITY

Please head to the West Stand reception ahead of kick-off where you will be directed to your suite or table by a member of our fantastic hospitality team.

Opening times on match-day for our suites are as follows:

  • Premier Club: 12:00pm
  • International Suite: 12:30pm
  • Executive boxes: 12:30pm
  • Street Eats: 1:00pm

For anyone with a general admission match day ticket there is the option to access Street Eats as a bolt-on to your general admission ticket.

For just £24 for adults and £18 for U16s, you can upgrade to this package whilst keeping your original seat or spot on our standing terraces.

The Street Eats suite will also see live music from Kelso-based singer Kimberly Ferreira, who will be performing both before and after the game.

PRE-MATCH ACTIVITIES

Turnstiles for the Sunday afternoon fixture open at 1:30pm.

We have an action-packed schedule at Kingston Park this Sunday with plenty going on for all to enjoy.

The Newcastle Rugby Foundation are holding their annual Defender Cup festival, which will see clubs from across the region go head-to-head in a great showcase of grassroots rugby union.

Registration for the festival opens in the stadium’s fan zone (north west corner) at 9:30am, which games kicking off at 10:30am and continuing through to turnstiles at 1:30pm.

With the fixture also being a Gallagher game day, the league’s main sponsor will have a number of activations set-up throughout the stadium.

From 2pm (approx.) you can grab a selfie with the Gallagher Premiership trophy, which will be on display in the West Stand concourse.

Gallagher will also have their ‘Playmaker’ challenge on-site, where supporters have 30 seconds to score as many points as possible by throwing the rugby ball at the targets on the wall as they light up.

If you fancy getting into the Family Fun Day spirit, there will also be balloon modelling and face painting located in the stadium’s fan zone.

You’ll also find members of the Falcons’ squad in the fan zone, who will be on hand for any photos and autographs.

Prior to kick-off, Defender Cup and festival participants will take part in a parade around the pitch. Be sure to show them your appreciation by cheering them on as they walk past.

FOOD & DRINK

There will be a feast both on and off the pitch at Kingston Park on Sunday, with a variety of food and drink options available to supporters.

We’ll have hog roast and pizza food vans located throughout the stadium bowl as well as the usual Falcons Fries and Chicken Shack kiosks open in the South and West Stand concourses.

We’ll have pop-up coffee shops open and supporters can also treat themselves with an ice cream van on-site.

KICK-OFF 

Newcastle Falcons host Sale Sharks in the Gallagher Premiership, with the Family Fun Day clash kicking off at 3pm.

Our Junior Falcon of the day will also be presenting the match ball.

HALF TIME

In keeping with the Gallagher game day and Newcastle Rugby Foundation’s Defender Cup, there will be a number of grassroots games taking place on the pitch, so be sure to cheer them on!

Half time will also see a lap of honour for all our Falcons Fit participants. They recently completed the 12-week programme run by the Newcastle Rugby Foundation.

The Falcons Flyer challenge returns for another Kingston Park match day! Lucky members of the audience will go head-to-head from try-line to half-way in a virtual race against a member of the Falcons squad.

Our merchandise cannon will also be doing its usual lap of the pitch. Be in with a chance of winning FREE stash as Flash and a member of the non-playing squad make their way around the stands. 

There will also be an opportunity to hear from some of the Falcons’ rising stars and England U20s Six Nations champions. Depending on team selection, they will join us on the pitch to take part in a short Q&A session and talk us through their Championship winning campaign.

POST-MATCH ACTIVITIES

After the game has finished, there will be plenty of opportunities to meet the squad. As well as their usual lap of the stadium, supporters are also invited onto the pitch for any autographs and selfies!

Please however wait until this is announced over our stadium speakers before entering the pitch. This will usually be 10 minutes after the final whistle and is to ensure both supporters and player safety.

Our concourse bars and the Tap & Tackle will remain open after the game, but all match-day attendees are invited to our Players’ Lounge on the first floor of the West Stand, where you can mix and mingle with the squad as well as enjoy live music from Kimbelry Ferreira.             

Supporters are also reminded that the club shop and ticket office will also open for half-an-hour after the game. Pay them a visit and grab yourself some match tickets or a bargain with a huge sale on our replica kit and teamwear items.
