WOODEN SPOON CELEBRATION DAY

Thursday 02 May 2013 Written by: Adam

Collingwood Primary, Bamburgh Primary, Keelmans Way School and Cleaswell Hill all attended and participated in two hours of tag rugby followed by a presentation of certificates marking their achievements.

The Falcons Community Foundation launched the Wooden Spoon Programme in MLD/SLD primary schools across the region in late January. The programme is designed to target non-traditional rugby areas and special schools which have little or no rugby activities. It is aiming to instruct teachers on how to continue these activities once the coaches have completed their project, hopefully engaging MLD/SLD students into sport for the longer term.

We hope that all involved enjoyed the programme and continue to engage with rugby. We look forward to seeing some participants at a game soon!
