The 25-year-old loose-head has made 49 appearances for the club – the former Durham University man having also represented England Students.

“I’ve been here for a number of years now and can honestly say I’ve loved every minute of it,” said Brocklebank.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to re-sign with the club for another year, and like a lot of the lads I feel like I’ve developed a lot this season.

“Moving forward into the future this is a really exciting group of players to be part of, because the development that’s happened this season means we’ve got more strength in depth.”

Keen to go the distance as a Newcastle player, he added: “I just love being here, I’ve had some good chances to play this season and I’m fully grateful for the opportunity the club are giving me.

“I’ve had a few starts this season, I’m learning all the time and I’d love to be one of those guys like a Will Welch or a Mark Wilson who goes on to play more than 200 games for the club.

“I’m just about up to 50 at the moment, and it would give me a huge amount of pride if I was able to keep that number climbing and really make a strong contribution here.”

Director of rugby Dean Richards said: “Adam has come a long way during his time with us, and is continuing to develop well.

“He is getting an increasing amount of Premiership game time on the back of the hard work he is putting in, and it just adds to that sense of stability that we have agreed this new contract.”
