Green ready for Rec raid
The lock-forward was part of a Falcons side which led 21-0 and then 28-7 during their Premiership Rugby Cup semi-final at Northampton last Saturday, a game the Saints went on to win 59-33.
“At the end everyone was just disappointed because we’d led by 21 points on two separate occasions, but we didn’t go do a very good job of preventing them from coming back into it,” said the lock-forward.
“That was it really, it was a very frustrating one and we know we’re now going into a block of absolutely vital league games. We’ve had a look at last week, taken from it what we needed to and now we’re just ready to go again down at Bath.”
Looking to climb up the Premiership table by doing a home-and-away double over Bath for the second consecutive season, Green said: “The mood in the squad is actually pretty positive, although obviously we were all disappointed with last weekend bar the first 20 or so minutes.
“We had a good look at it on Monday morning, it has been parked now and everyone is just geared up for Bath on Saturday. We’ve beaten them twice at our place already this season, we know they’re a good side but we’ve proven that if we get our game right we can push them.
“They’ve got a lot of talented players and when they get it right they’re one of the best teams in the country, but on the same token they can have days when they’re not on their game.
“We’ve just got to take care of our own end of things and make sure we’re as good as we can be, and hopefully catch them a bit cold.
“All we’re thinking about is getting our own jobs right, which will turn into a collective thing if we can all do that, and we showed last year that we can win at the Rec. It’s do-able, we have the belief and we’re going to give it a good crack.
“Whatever else has happened this season has happened, we’re not in a good place with regards to our league position but the spirit here is still great, and only we can get ourselves out of it.”
