Rob Andrew Returns For Legends Match

Newcastle Falcons are pleased to announce that Rob Andrew has agreed to coach the Falcons Legends team at their huge game against Southern Hemisphere XV on 2nd October.

Andrew, who spent four years as joint player/Director of Rugby with the Falcons at the dawn of the professional era and eleven years in total with the club, was capped 71 times for England and made five appearances for the British and Irish Lions.

The former Fly Half will return to coach a team of ex-Falcons which will include many of his former charges, including Doddie Weir, Matt Burke, Gary Armstrong, Ollie Phillips, Marius Hurter, Micky Ward and Hugh Vyvyan for this one-off game.

The Falcons Legends will face a Southern Hemisphere XV including players such as Samoa’s Mike Umaga, Kiwi-born Henry Paul and former Springboks Thinius Delport, Stefan Terblache and Andre Snyman in a game held to celebrate the arrival of Rugby World Cup 2015 into the city.

All proceeds from the match will go directly to the Falcons Community Foundation to fund World Cup legacy projects throughout the region.
