The final countdown to Rugby World Cup 2015 kicked off yesterday at Twickenham Stadium as former Falcon Jonny Wilkinson joined Prince Harry, Honorary President of England Rugby 2015 and fellow 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Will Greenwood to launch the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour.

The UK and Ireland leg of the Trophy Tour, which runs for the 100 days leading up to the Rugby World Cup, will visit over 300 events, including two linked to Newcastle Falcons during a week in the North East.

The first Falcons event will see the Webb Ellis trophy visit Close House Golf Resort on 30 July, less than days before the tournament begins.

Two days later the trophy will head to Tynemouth Longsands for the Falcons’ Flock beach party and touch finals day.

The Trophy Tour celebrates rugby and the hosting of Rugby World Cup 2015, and aims to provide as many people as possible with the chance to engage with the tournament and see rugby’s greatest prize.
