Arscott reflects on Falcons debut

The winger laid on the scoring pass for Johnny Williams’ second-half try and enjoyed a lively evening, saying afterwards: “I felt like I was 19 or 20 again playing my first Premiership game, because there were a few nerves flying around.

“It was really good, though, I enjoyed the game a lot and it’s been around 18 months since I last played in the Premiership. It was great to get back in, and hopefully I can push on and progress with the team.”

On the game itself, Arscott added: “It was one of those matches that was very frustrating.

“It was fairly even in terms of the numbers of chances created, but Exeter just took more of theirs. Fair play to them, but we need to be more clinical when we get into those areas. We created the opportunities but didn’t finish them off.

“There are a huge amount of positives to take from the game but also a lot of lessons to learn. Defensively, I thought we went well, even though we conceded a few tries at maul time. Even when we went down to 14 men the boys dug in hard, and it was just a few small errors from us.”

Winning one of their opening four fixtures but having taken bonus points in two of their three defeats, he said: “The run of fixtures we’ve had is about as difficult as it comes, but in all of those games we’ve created opportunities.

“We’ve not always finished them off, which we’re working on, but we’re creating plenty of chances.”
