Newcastle Falcons senior academy players Jamie Blamire and Max Davies will head to Georgia this summer after the pair were named as part of the England squad for the World Rugby U20 Championship.

The duo, who became part of the club’s senior academy last summer have already made their England debuts at this level, having been part of the Grand Slam winning squad in this year’s 6 Nations championship.

Blamire was a feature in all bar one of the matches, starting against Italy at the Northern Echo Arena in Darlington and scoring a try in a 46-0 triumph and appearing from the bench against France, Scotland and Ireland.

Davies initially started the campaign as part of the Welsh training squad before switching across to the red rose and making his debut in the game against the Italians from the bench.

He was elevated to a first start against Scotland a fortnight later but missed out on involvement in the final game against Ireland as a result of a shoulder injury.

Taking place in the Georgian capital Tbilisi, the tournament gets under way on May 31st and runs through to Sunday, June 18.

The reigning champions open the championships against Samoa before facing Wales on Sunday, June 4 before completing the pool stages against Australia on Thursday, June 8.

All of England’s games in the competition will be broadcast live in the UK by ITV.
