The 27-year-old won his first two international caps in the autumn tests against Romania and Tonga, having previously played in the non-cap game against the Maori All Blacks.

Civetta joined the Falcons last summer from Italian club I Medicei, and has made four competitive appearances for the first team.

He will be available for the first two of his country’s five upcoming tests, when they face Uruguay on Saturday February 4 in San Antonio, and Brazil on Saturday February 11 in Round Rock, Texas.

USA head coach John Mitchell said: “Ultimately, at the end of the day, this assembly will be about how this team connects as one and enhances the individuals’ future opportunities with the national team.

“The important thing is to connect as a team and play well to put ourselves in the position to win the ARC. That’s the aim – to win the tournament. A five-week competition is a huge ask for amateur players, but we obviously have got a close eye on Rugby World Cup Qualifiers selections as well.”
