European fixture announcement delayed

Friday 14 August 2015 Written by: Adam

Ahead of the announcement of the 2015/16 European fixtures on 14th August, tournament organisers European Professional Club Rugby have confirmed that the dates of Pool 1 matches will not be included in this announcement.

With the inclusion for the first time in the competition’s history of a Russian team, the additional logistical considerations needed to ensure an enjoyable and exciting pool stage for the four teams in the pool have necessitated a delay in the release of these dates.

While the delay means the four clubs are unable to join the excitement of learning their fixtures on Friday, it is hoped that taking a little longer to finalise the dates will enable the competition to run smoothly.

Newcastle Falcons Managing Director Mick Hogan said: “While we won’t get to know our eagerly awaited European fixtures with the rest of the competitors on Friday, it’s understandable that EPCR are taking their time to ensure everything runs as planned.”

“Enisei’s qualification and the delayed start to the European competitions has brought some added challenges for the organisers, but ones that will be met by taking this extra time to finalise the dates.”

Newcastle Falcons line up in Pool 1 alongside familiar foes Brive Corezze, Connacht Rugby and Russian debutants Enisei-STM, battling it out for a place in the knock out stages and the chance to progress towards the European Rugby Challenge Cup final, in Lyon on Friday May 13.

All three of the home pool matches are included in the 2015/16 season ticket memberships, alongside 11 Aviva Premiership rugby games and the two Kings of the North tournament fixtures against Sale and Leicester.

Standing adult season tickets start from £204 and seats from £312, with up to two free Under 11’s tickets able to be claimed with each full paying adult or concession.
