Falcons play host to Emerging Colleges
Newcastle Falcons’ Kingston Park stadium played host to a RFU emerging college’s event on February 11th as the club and the sport’s governing body work towards encouraging participation in the game.
Ran to provide more competitive games for college’s and sixth form schools looking to develop their rugby sides, a total of seven establishments from across Durham and Northumberland accepted the invitation to take part.
Playing 10 a side games on half pitches on the main Kingston Park pitch, teams from Bede College, Cramlington, Darlington College, Middlesbrough College, New College Durham, Stockton Sixth Form and Tyne Met College played games under the watchful eyes of Womens Rugby World Cup winner Tamara Taylor, who praised all the sides taking part and was pleased with their developments.
Following the successful event at Kingston Park, two further Emerging Colleges events will take place in March and April, with Darlington Mowden Park’s Northern Echo Arena hosting the 13th March date, before Kingston Park once again hosts the colleges on 22nd April
