There was plenty of interest for Newcastle Falcons fans on the international stage last weekend as four of the club’s squad took to the field in three separate test matches.

Vereniki Goneva, Chris Harris, Sonatane Takula and Mark Wilson all enjoyed a good amount of game time as the summer international window heads towards its conclusion.
First up was another clash of the club-mates as Goneva and Takalua lined up for Fiji and Tonga in Suva, with the Ikale Tahi ultimately prevailing with a 19-27 win.

Takulua contributed 12 of those points with three conversions and two penalties, while Premiership Rugby’s joint top try scorer for season 17/18 Goneva was also on the scoreboard for Fiji with his 20th international try.

In Cape Town, Mark Wilson earned his fourth England cap as he came on for Wasps’ Nathan Hughes in the 10 – 25 win over South Africa and made another impactful contribution in his time on the field.

Wilson’s efforts included charging down an Elton Jantjies kick and winning possession back for his side whilst deep in the hosts’ territory as Eddie Jones’ side arrested a run of five consecutive losses.

In Resistencia, Argentina, Chris Harris also made his presence felt from the bench as he put in some big defensive hits in Scotland’s 15-44 win over the Pumas as Gregor Townsend’s team signed off their summer tour in emphatic style.
