Falcons stars shine on international stage
Lock Cavubati (pictured) and wing Goneva both started the Flying Fijians’ 21-14 triumph at Stade de France in Paris, Cavubati playing 65 minutes and Goneva going the full 80 in a result which propels Fiji into the top eight of the World Rugby rankings for the first time in their history.
Sonatane Takulua captained Tonga as they fell 20-9 to Georgia in Tbilisi, kicking all of their points with three penalties.
Back-rower Mark Wilson completed a memorable autumn in England colours by playing the full 80 minutes in their 37-18 home win over Australia, the Cumbrian playing every minute in all four tests and emerging with a huge amount of credit.
Prop-forward Logovi’i Mulipola, meanwhile, was part of the Samoa team which defeated Spain 28-10 in Madrid on Saturday.
With the international window now at a close, all of the players will return to Newcastle and be in contention for Saturday’s Gallagher Premiership trip to Northampton Saints.
