FALCONS TV – Burrows previews Harlequins trip
Newcastle Falcons back-row Ryan Burrows is backing his side to build on an opening round draw in the Premiership Rugby Cup this weekend, as the side travel to face Harlequins at the Twickenham Stoop on Sunday (KO 3pm)
Burrows captained the side that shared the spoils with defending champions Exeter Chiefs after a 22-all draw at Kingston Park Stadium last week and speaking to Falcons TV, says the improvements needed to gain a positive result are in the team’s own hands.
“Nothing that went wrong at the weekend was from pressure from the opposition, it was more individual errors and team errors so we know it is within our grasp to put it right and get a positive result down at Quins.”
The draw between the Falcons and Exeter allowed Dean Richards’ side to make it three games unbeaten following impressive Heineken Champions Cup wins over Toulon and Montpellier, with Burrows insisting these results are restoring self-belief and laying foundations for the return to Gallagher Premiership Rugby later in November.
He added: “The difference between this year and last year was those close games, we found a way to win and we’ve not quite done that yet this season.
“Going into Europe and winning the two games in the manner that we do and I think it has brought a little bit of belief back, that if we work hard for 80 minutes then the result will take care of itself.”
