Falcons Under-18s snatch dramatic finals-day victory
James Blackett’s last-minute kick clinched the result at Worcester’s Sixways Stadium in the Falcons’ first ever finals day, having finished third in the Northern Conference.
Newcastle had led 21-0 at one stage after two tries from England Under-18s wing Matty Ward and one from Ben Robson, Bristol grabbing one back before the interval to cut the Falcons’ half-time lead to 21-7.
Newcastle then found themselves trailing 26-21 just a quarter of an hour later after tries from Ollie Holiday and Harry Rowson’s double put Bristol ahead.
Ollie Fletcher responded for the Falcons but Bristol nudged ahead again, but when Peacock scored a last-minute try for the Falcons Blackett held his nerve to slot the winning kick at the death.
