Finn Baker, Tom Burton, Isaac Keller, Jacob Oliver and Ben Redshaw have all been included in Jonathan Pendlebury’s 26-man squad, Keller being the latest Falcon to join up after replacing Tye Raymont of Yorkshire Academy/Bishop Burton School.

Speaking on the announcement, Newcastle Falcons’ head of academy James Ponton said: “We’ve got Ben Redshaw, Finn Baker and Tom Burton from Sedbergh, Jacob Oliver from Barnard Castle and Isaac Keller from Gosforth Academy.

“Isaac is a loose-head prop, Jake is a hooker, Finn is a lock, Tom is a winger and Ben can play a number of positions. It will be a great experience for them over in South Africa, and I’m sure they’ll go well.”

The three-match international series takes place in Paarl and will see the team play two games against South Africa Under-18s and one against a South Africa Under-18 A-side.

Head coach, Jonathan Pendlebury, speaking ahead of the tour said: “This is an exciting tour for the players who have worked hard with their academies throughout the summer in preparation.

“We have almost a week together in South Africa to train and I know the players are really ready to make the most of the opportunities to continue learning. We are keen to explore what representing England at U18 age group level overseas is like versus facing opposition on home soil.”
