Forwards allowing backs to shine – Harris

Scoring two tries on the night through Simon Hammersley and Adam Powell, it was the platform laid by the pack that Harris credits for allowing the backs to shine.

“The forwards were outstanding again and we had a great set piece and they were really physical around the park. The backs also stepped up in performance and it was an all round team effort that got us the win but the forwards put the graft in which made it easier for us boys.”

Exuding happiness in his post match press commitments, the 25 year old and his team mates continue to grow off as the squad continue to enjoy a positive run of form as combinations continue to build understandings between them.

“The boys put in a top performance today, as they have done for the last few weeks. At the start of the season in the initial run of games, there were a lot of changes with injuries and new boys coming in, but now we’re gelling as a team and everything is starting to click.”

“That stability is now allowing us to be more consistent with our performances that we’re putting in. There’s a big buzz as there has the last four or five times at home now, we’re starting to get Kingston Park back to being the fortress that it used to be.”

A key component of that process continues to be the home crowd, who are turning out in consistent numbers to back their team and once again provided a lift when required on Friday.

Harris said: “The crowd are always fantastic, it’s even better when we are winning and playing well and they are behind us. When we conceded a try there, the crowd got behind us and gives you a buzz and hopefully we will all be back to it next week against Saints.”
