The Kingston Park clash will take place on Saturday 10 September (3pm KO) with round two seeing the Falcons travelling to current champions Leicester Tigers.

The second home game of the Premiership season sees Bristol Bears heading north on Friday September 30 (7:45pm KO) in front of the BT Sport cameras.

Dates, times and TV coverage are confirmed for the first ten rounds of the league season. All games after this point are listed as ‘weekend of’ pending TV selections, with the festive season seeing a home game against northern rivals Sale Sharks before a trip to Bath at the turn of the year.

Midland rivals Northampton Saints and Leicester Tigers provide the first home league opposition of 2023, with the last two games of the regular season being Wasps at home and Sale Sharks away.

Premiership Rugby Cup fixtures have also been confirmed, with the Falcons opening their campaign away to Wasps on September 20 before hosting Sale Sharks on September 27. A trip to Leicester on October 18/19 and the visit of Northampton on November 18/19/20 completes the pool campaign.

The EPCR Challenge Cup pool stage sees Newcastle facing home-and-away matches against Cardiff Blues and Connacht, although tournament organisers have not yet allocated specific weekends for each of those four fixtures.

Head coach Dave Walder said: “This is always an exciting time of year because the release of the Gallagher Premiership fixture list means the new season is getting closer, and it adds that greater degree of focus to your preparation.

“For supporters it means they can start booking tickets or arranging their away trips for the first block which has been confirmed, and there’s a huge buzz around the club at the moment.

“Having Harlequins at home on the first weekend for the second-year running is fantastic for us. It’s a fixture which I am sure will excite our fans and having come so close to beating them at home last season we feel there is unfinished business.”
