Goode Praises Falcons Fans
Speaking after the Falcons’ 26-17 victory over Harlequins, Andy Goode praised the home supporters for their part in the win.
After years of appearing at Kingston Park Stadium as a member of the opposition, the veteran Fly House received a rousing welcome from the Falcons faithful when he entered the fray 18 minutes into the second half.
“I’ve been playing here for 17 years now and you always know how loud that South Stand is, so to be attacking there was brilliant and when Bobby Vickers scored at the end they went wild!”
Despite having previously been the focus of Falcons fans’ attentions for all the wrong reasons, Goode admitted that he’s always respected the Kingston Park faithful.
“I never minded getting a bit of abuse as a member of the opposition, because you can see the fans now cheering for the team and how passionate they get. It’s a great club and the fans and everyone are part of that.”
Having taken an early lead in the match with a try from Scott Lawson and two kicks from Craig Willis, three Harlequins tries within ten minutes of half time seemed to have dented the Falcons hopes of a victory.
However a late resurgence, including three successful penalties from Goode, have the team their fourth consecutive home victory.
But despite having scored eleven of his team’s 26 points, Goode was keen to share praise for the result.
“Obviously there were the three penalty goals to kick but the forwards won us those penalties and as a ten it’s your job to kick them and to point the win in the right direction.
“The win, especially those last 20 minutes, was built on the forwards and on power. The back row were phenomenal and obviously Sean Robinson got man of the match, which is great.
“We gifted them two tries just after half time which is something we need to work on but we showed our bouncebackability from that “

The Falcons’ next match sees them travel to the Ricoh Arena to face Wasps on Saturday, before returning to Kingston Park Stadium the following Friday, 12th February, to face Leicester Tigers. Tickets for that game are on sale now and available to buy [here][2].
