The hard-hitting centre, who joined the Falcons in the summer of 2011, has signed a two-year deal with the North East club.

Capped by Samoa four times, Helleur scored five tries in 22 outings last term to help the Falcons to promotion back to the Aviva Premiership at the first time of asking.

Plying his trade in the Aviva Premiership in his first season on Tyneside, Helleur scooped the Man of Steel award at the Falcons’ end of season awards in 2012.

“I am extremely excited at what lies ahead for the club and its supporters,” said the former Blues hit-man.

“It is great to be back into pre-season training and to see many new faces at the club, and I can’t wait to get started in the Aviva Premiership.

“I love the area and more importantly the passionate fans, and I believe this club can challenge at the highest level,” added Helleur.

Falcons boss Dean Richards said: “Jamie has a lot of experience having played in the Super 15 and ITM Cup, as well as in the Aviva Premiership gained from his first season at Kingston Park.

“I am delighted that he is staying with us as we continue our preparation for the new season.”
