Crowds for the first three Aviva Premiership matches have risen from last season’s average of 5,136 to 6,076, managing director Mick Hogan crediting a number of factors.

Hogan said: “The improved performance of the team, first and foremost, has to be credited for the increased interest. We have won two of our three home games and only lost the other one by a single point, and the team are now well placed in the top half of the table.

“But in addition to that we believe an improved match-day experience, including a new stadium bar, has played a significant part, as has our new CRM system, new club website and our marketing of home fixtures.”

With league-wide crowds for all top-flight teams up 9.8%, Hogan added: “Our overall attendance over the full season is 28% up on where it was two years ago, but we are looking to push this growth further with a number of big games coming up.

“We are specifically targeting our next home Aviva Premiership match against Exeter Chiefs on Friday November 18, aiming for what would be our first sell-out crowd in more than eight years.

“Season ticket members will be the first group to access special offers for this fixture, with the ability to buy up to 10 extra tickets for just £5 each, and as the match draws closer we will have further deals in place to try and tempt people to Kingston Park Stadium.”

Aviva Premiership TV audiences have also been on the rise this season, with games now available in more than 175 million households worldwide. The opening weekend of the season saw a record 1.057 million viewers watching live match action in the UK and Ireland.
