Local clubs lining up for Newcastle Festival of Rugby
A packed day of sevens action sees four competitions open for entry – men’s elite, men’s social, women’s and mixed touch.
The men’s social event has already seen entries from a number of local club teams including Medicals, Novos, Northern, BCS (Durham and Sunderland), and Durham University Colleges.
The field for the men’s elite competition includes RED Wailers, Irish Wolfhounds, The Mighty Peth and The South, a composite team made up from clubs on the Scottish Borders sevens circuit.
Entries for all competitions are still being taken priced £10 per player for the full day, with squads of 10 for the touch competition and 12 for all other categories. Email **gavin.beasley@newcastle-falcons.co.uk** or call 0191 214 2803 for more information.
Entry for spectators is free of charge, the Newcastle Festival of Rugby placing a big emphasis on being a family experience with inflatables, music, fancy dress competitions and entertainment.
Spark Radio from Sunderland University will be on hand to cover the day’s events and to play music within the ground, while the Aviva Premiership final will be shown live on the stadium TVs.
