NE1 supports Champions Rugby Village
The Champions Rugby Village will be staged on Newcastle’s Quayside from Thursday May 9 until Saturday May 11 and is open to all supporters as well as local people who don’t have tickets.
The activities will include big screens, music, street entertainment, a host of river related activities, food and drink outlets, a rugby activation area and a zip-line across the River Tyne. The Champions Rugby Village will be staged in the area from the Tyne Bridge to the Millennium Bridge and on Baltic Square.
NE1 is Newcastle’s international-award-winning Business Improvement District company, with their support significantly boosting an event which sees the eyes of the rugby world turning to Tyneside.
Newcastle United’s St James’ Park hosts the European Rugby Challenge Cup Final on Friday May 10 followed by the Heineken Champions Cup Final the following day. Over 80,000 supporters are expected to attend the two events
Event director Mick Hogan said: “We welcome the partnership with NE1 for the Newcastle 2019 Finals. We have a great reputation in the city for staging successful fan activation areas around big rugby events. The Champions Rugby Village will be a fantastic three-day celebration of everything that is great about rugby and our fantastic city.
