Nine new faces for Falcons A versus Worcester
Mark Laycock and James Ponton have announced a side showing nine changes to the starting XV for Monday night’s Aviva A League match at Kingston Park against Worcester Cavaliers (KO 7pm)
The club’s academy manager and head coach are determined to build on a positive opening game away to Northampton Wanderers last Monday and build on the losing bonus point taken from that fixture.
In the backline Simon Hammersley, Andy Tuilagi and Craig Willis remain in the fullback, inside centre and fly half roles the fulfilled last week, while Belisario Agulla will be looking to repeat his try scoring exploits from a week ago, moving from outside centre to right wing.
Fresh from an energetic performance against Enisei STM, Tom Penny takes over the vacated 13 shirt, with his speed and sharp direction changes ready to work of the foil that will be provided by the direct physical threat offered by Tuilagi.
Completing the changes in the backs, Ruki Tipuna takes over the scrum half shirt from Sonatane Takalua.
A new look front row takes the shape of Alex Rogers and Taione Vea at Loose and Tighthead prop, while Scott Lawson is the starting hooker.
The young second row partnership of Seb Ferreira and Glen Young continues for a second week, after shining in the East Midlands while in the back row, Kiwi flankers Richard Mayhew and Daniel Temm will look to deliver the performances they showed in European, with Todd Clever captaining the side from number eight.
On the replacements bench, Rob Hawkins, Eric Fry and Paddy Ryan provide the front row options for the side, as Joe Craggs and Callum Chick cover the remainder of the forwards.
With Tipuna taking over the scrum half role, Takalua moves to the bench, joining Brett Connon and Dan Marshall.
Entry to this evening’s fixture is free to all supporters, with seating and standing viewing areas open and with entry to the stadium via the Tap & Tackle.
