Novos to host girls rugby festival
Novocastrians RFC will play host to a girls rugby training session this Sunday, as work continues in the area to encourage more participation in the game in the North East.
The event, which takes place at Novos home ground Sutherland Park, from 1:15 and is open to all girls under 15 is being supported by the Falcons Community Foundation, which has also been recently delivering activity in women’s rugby under the Rugby4All scheme.
The event will be a great chance for young rugby players and those girls who would like to try out the sport to gain some experience and also for parents to see what Women and Girls rugby in the North East is all about.

Rugby4All is Premiership Rugby’s innovative programme backed by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission to promote diversity and equality in rugby.
Amongst the programme’s aims is to increase the number of women and girls involved in the sport, to provide better access for disabled people and to promote the game among Black and Minority Ethnic groups.
Further to the event at Novos, the Falcons Community Foundation are also running a free girls camp on Tuesday 26th May and Friday 29th May.
Both days will be at Kingston Park from 10am to 3pm and are open to girls age 12-17. As well as playing on the main pitch of Kingston Park, each camp will have a visit from a Newcastle Falcons player.
