Hugh joined Newcastle Falcons in the summer of 2023 from London Irish.

Raised in Meath in a family of talented hurlers and Gaelic football players, Hugh focused on rugby where he won double Leinster Schools Cups with Belvedere College.

Going through the Leinster academy system, he made 34 senior appearances for the province over three seasons before moving to England in 2021.

Capped by Ireland Under-18s and 20s, his two seasons at London Irish saw him making 20 first-team appearances for the Exiles, where his zippy running and speed of pass marked him out as a future Falcon.

Hugh made 15 appearances in his first campaign with the Falcons in 2023-24, scoring a try in the EPCR Challenge Cup victory at French club, Perpignan.
