Rogers ready for Pool 1 reckoning
Newcastle Falcons prop Alex Rogers is looking forward to Saturday’s European Rugby Challenge Cup clash against Brive Correze, as he and his teammates look to maintain their home form in the tournament.
Heading into the important pool 1 fixture, where a win could still see the Falcons advance to the quarter finals of the competition, Rogers sees the up front battle as a key area for the Falcons to win if they wish to take that result.
“It will be big for us, Brive are a big forward back with big runners and strong ball carriers, so we are going to have to front up physically and getting an ascendency at Scrum time and Line outs.”
“We’ve had a good training week so hopefully we can go out on Saturday and put everything in place and get that win we need.”
Having featured in all the club’s European games to date this season, Rogers has enjoyed the experience, with the round four win over Connacht a particularly good memory.
“Beating them at home was a highlight, they were flying high in the Pro 12 at the time and to beat them convincingly, after they beat us over at their place was quite good.”
Looking to take revenge for the round one defeat in France, the former Harlequin and Lille forward says he and his tame mates have to look to take full advantage of ending the pool stages at Kingston Park.
“It’s a hard place to come to and we know our ground better than everyone else so we have to make that an advantage for us.”
