Round-up: Falcons active on international stage
Newcastle Falcons had a host of players away on international duty over the weekend. Here, we round up the action.
Patrick Hogg (left of picture) and Joe Davis made their England Under-18s debuts on Saturday, taking on France Under-18s.
In front of more than 5,000 supporters in Chalon-sur-Saône England were beaten 62-10, with Davis scoring England’s second try from a quick tap.
Lock-forward Hogg (Blaydon RFC and Durham School) and scrum-half Davis (Barnard Castle School) both came on from the bench, with England Under-18s’ next game being on March 30 when they meet Wales in the Italian city of Parma.
The Under-20s Six Nations saw Newcastle Falcons lock Luke Coulston making his Scotland debut on Friday, as they travelled to take on Italy.
The 19-year-old came on from the bench in their 47-14 loss in Treviso, with Scotland’s next assignment being away against Ireland on Friday.
The 7pm kick-off at Virgin Media Park in Cork is being shown live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Rugby website.
Meanwhile, Newcastle Falcons had four players involved for England Under-20s on Friday when they drew 32-32 with Ireland in Bath.
Full-back Ben Redshaw and hooker Jacob Oliver started the game at the Recreation Ground, with centre Oliver Spencer and scrum-half Ben Douglas among the replacements.
Spencer (pictured below) came on from the bench, scoring a second-half try.
England’s next game sees them away against France on Friday night, with the match in Pau kicking off at 8pm and being shown live on BBC iPlayer and the BBC Rugby website.
