Sinoti tips Falcons to continue strong form
Newcastle Falcons flying Samoan Sinoti Sinoti continued his impressive form in a black and silver shirt in Sunday’s 38-7 win over London Welsh and believes the club has what it needs in place to enjoy a strong run in towards the end of the season.
Sinoti’s elusive footwork and strength in the contact area was in full view on Sunday, as he scored his sixth try of the season and broke through Welsh’s defensive line on numerous occasions.
With these attributes seeing the 29 year old become a firm fan favourite and one of a number who generate a noticeable increase in volume when on the ball, the man himself puts credit at the feet of the club’s coaches and the attacking game plan employed this season.
“It comes down to the game-plan and what the coaching staff and everyone has been doing in terms of giving it to us. We still have to put the plan into action but at the moment, we are and so we’re doing well.
“I think it works so well because everybody gets a chance to get a touch of the ball and it depends on us how we use it.”
On a day where the North East weather played up to its notorious billing, with swirling winds and persistent rain, a game of running rugby was still put on for the 5,048 supporters in the ground, which Sinoti explains:
“Whatever the weather does, its happy days and it is still running rugby here. Obviously the wind was strong today but that doesn’t affect us now as we have a game-plan to play in those kinds of conditions.”
After successful negotiating a match facing a Welsh side determined to build on an improved performance against Harlequins, Sinoti was keen to praise Justin Burnell’s side’s effort at Kingston Park.
“They remind me of us last season in that maybe they don’t quite get the reward for their efforts. It’s a credit to them for turning up today and playing rugby, which hopefully entertained the guys in the stands.”
Also earning a glowing report from the winger post match was referee Wayne Barnes, who demonstrated an assured control of the game.
“He’s the man and a class act! Wayne let the game flow and there weren’t too many stops out there today which is what you want as a player.”
With nine rounds of the Aviva Premiership remaining, the Falcons are now looking to press on and secure as high a finish in the table as possible, with Sinoti believing that the strength and depth of the squad will ensure that the current high standards remain on show.
“We don’t look to other teams to push us now, we look within our own camp because we have the young lads coming up and everyone is knocking on the door and competing for positions.”
