TWO OUT OF TWO FOR FALCONS
Despite taking maximum points away from the capital after racking up an impressive seven converted tries, the Kingston Park outfit conceded three late tries to the dismay of Richards.
“We picked up a few injuries towards the end of the game and we also went down to 14 men when we lost Ryan Shortland having made all of our changes, but sometimes you go so far and you take your foot off the gas,” Richards told the gathering media pitch side.
“That is a bit worrying as I don’t want them to take their feet off the gas – We lost our rhythm a little bit and I wouldn’t say things went according to plan but we got what we came for.
“We have still picked up maximum points but I’m not happy with the four tries that we conceded and the players are not happy too,” he added.
The Falcons’ medical team were put to the test today as first Chris Pilgrim hobbled off and then later in the game Ryan Shortland pulled up with what looked like a hamstring injury after putting boot to ball.
Richards said: “We have a few injuries but we will monitor them over the next 24 hours and see what comes out of that, but I’m not going to make any assessments on them immediately after the game.”
Richards men now gear up for this Friday’s showdown with Doncaster Knights at Kingston Park with tickets still available by calling the Falcons Ticket Hotline on 0871 226 6060 or click here to purchase online.
