Tynemet Rugby awards evening
The Tynemet Rugby Excellence programme ethos strongly emphasises player development, and it has been really pleasing to have some exceptional positive rugby pathway progression this season.
Within the boys’ programme, seven players have been selected for Northumberland U17s, whilst also having two players selected for Cumbria U17s. This has led to over a third of our first-years being involved in county rugby. Other notable progressions include three of our players being asked to join Newcastle Thunder Academy.
Within the girls’ programme, five players were selected for the Northumberland Girls U18s. Additionally, we have had four players selected for the North East & Cumbria Centre of Excellence. Through playing in this, two have been selected to attend a North England TDG camp in August. Two of the girls have also made their Women’s Super League debuts for Huddersfield Giants and continue to play at the highest level.
It was also important to celebrate individual success with the following awards being received by:
* **Boys’ Student Athlete** – Jack Griffin.
* **Boys’ Coaches’ Player** – Josh Coombs.
* **Boys’ Players’ Player** – Corey Hart.
* **Girls’ Student Athlete** – Macey Barcoe.
* **Girls’ Coaches’ Player** – Lucy Burwood.
* **Girls’ Players’ Player** – Molly Davidson.
