VIDEO: Takulua talks Saints
Sonatane Takulua is looking forward to being back on club duty on Friday evening, as the scrum-half returns to the starting line up for the first time since October 29 against Northampton on Friday evening.
Takulua has spent the last month away on international duty with Tonga and after starting in all three of their matches is set to get back to the cut and thrust of Aviva Premiership Rugby.
Speaking to Falcons TV on Thursday, Takulua said: “I’m looking forward to getting back and it’s really exciting to get back into the starting line up for the Falcons. I’ve enjoyed being with Tonga, but I’m really happy with the welcome back from the boys and looking forward to the game.”
Newcastle tasted victory against the Saints in the corresponding fixture last season and a repeat result would be welcomed by Dean Richards men in what is a tightly packed Aviva Premiership Rugby mid-table, with just eight points covering the teams from fourth to tenth.
According to Takulua, that can be taken if the team take their chances.
He said: “We’ve just got to park the last couple of games where we didn’t get what we were trying to get.
“Against Northampton, we have just got to go and be positive and take it back to our belief and trust each other and our game plan and play our hearts out. When we have a chance on the ball we’ve got to take them and make Northampton make mistakes in their own half.”
