Welsh hails medics for fighting fit return
Prop Forward Jon Welsh enjoyed a strong return to action for Newcastle Falcons in Friday’s season opener against Sale Sharks.
The Scottish international put in a sterling shift both in the set pieces and in open play, including a powerful break that laid the foundations for one of Mike Delany’s crucial penalties, that helped secure a 19-17 opening day win.
Showing no ill effects from an enforced six month layoff, Welsh gave full praise to the medical team at Kingston Park Stadium whilst speaking to Falcons TV.
He said: “We’ve got a fantastic medical team who have looked after me very well. It has been a long time and a lot of hard work has gone in to getting me back fit.”
