WILSON IN THE MOOD FOR DERBY CLASH
Wilson, 22, has backed the club’s ticket offer of buy one get one free and insists it makes a huge difference to have a partisan North East crowd roaring their team on.
“It really makes a difference for the lads when we have a passionate crowd inside Kingston Park,” said Wilson.
“The club have done a great job in making the game a buy one get one free on tickets and I really hope that we pack the ground for what will be a tough challenge for us,” added Wilson.
Kendal-born Wilson picked up a knock during the Falcons’ final pre-season game against Edinburgh, an injury which has hampered his start to the Championship campaign.
Now in tip-top condition, the robust Cumbrian is excited at the prospect of locking horns with a Yorkshire outfit which put promotion-chasing Bristol to the sword on Sunday.
Wilson said: “I picked up a knock during the Edinburgh game and there was no rush to get myself back but I am now ready to go.
“There is no doubt that Friday’s game will be a tough encounter for us and we are very much expecting a physical battle.
“They showed what they were about at home to Bristol last weekend so they will certainly be full of confidence.”
Itching to don the Falcons jersey and march out onto the hallow Kingston Park turf, Wilson has set his sights on regaining some of the form that he showed at the back end of last term.
“I think Friday is all about showing my strengths and I am looking forward to linking up with Ally Hogg and Richard Mayhew in the scrum, who are both in good form.”
